Drugs May Not Be Regulated or Safe

The abortion pill consists of two drugs, mifepristone and misoprostol. The FDA approves this regimen only through 10 weeks of gestation.

Ordering abortion pills from unverified online sources can expose women to counterfeit or unsafe drugs. These products may be incorrectly dosed, contaminated, or not medically appropriate. Overseas drugs aren’t regulated by the FDA.

The FDA also does not recommend buying these drugs online. Without oversight from a healthcare provider, there is no knowledge of the patient’s history when taking these drugs, and this can have serious consequences. 

Why an Ultrasound Must Come First 

An ultrasound provides key medical details that cannot be skipped, as they safeguard your health. 

The three things an ultrasound confirms are: 

• The pregnancy location – Without knowing the pregnancy’s location, you could be having a potential ectopic pregnancy and not know it. An ectopic pregnancy develops in the fallopian tube instead of the uterus and requires immediate medical attention. It cannot be treated with the abortion pill.
